SIDNEY

The district of Sidney, which is part of the Peninsula region, corresponds to the municipal Town of Sidney and is sub-divided into four neighborhoods.

Sidney, also known as "Sidney by the Sea," is located approximately 20 kilometers north of Victoria. It features a temperate climate, natural amenities, and a friendly community character. Sidney has extensive waterfront walkways, parks, restaurants, and marinas. The town is home to the redeveloped Mary Winspear Community Centre, which includes the 315-seat Charlie White Theatre. Sidney's popular Thursday evening street market runs through the summer and attracts visitors from around the region.

In partnership with its sister municipalities of North Saanich and Central Saanich, Sidney helps fund the nearby Panorama Leisure Centre, which provides indoor tennis, two indoor ice rinks, a large indoor pool, and other facilities.

Sidney is conveniently located less than two kilometers away from the Victoria International Airport, a few kilometers from the B.C. Ferry Terminal to Vancouver, and only 25 minutes away from downtown Victoria. There is also a daily ferry service to Anacortes, Washington, USA. 

Overall, Sidney offers a charming coastal community with a variety of amenities, making it an attractive destination for visitors and residents alike.

 

  • NORTH SAANICH

    The district of North Saanich is a part of the Peninsula region that corresponds to the municipal District of North Saanich and is sub-divided into 11 neighbourhoods. North Saanich is located at the north end of the Saanich Peninsula, approximately 25 kilometers north of Victoria, on southern Vancouver Island. The area exists on the traditional territories of the W̱SÁNEĆ people. 

    The primary land uses in North Saanich are agricultural, residential, and institutional, resulting in a rural atmosphere. Single detached homes are the dominant type of housing in the area. 

    North Saanich offers several facilities for leisure and sports enthusiasts. The Panorama Leisure Centre provides indoor tennis, ice arena, pool, and other facilities. The Glen Meadows Golf and Country Club and the Ardmore golf course serve golf enthusiasts.

  • CENTRAL SAANICH

    Central Saanich is a district in the Peninsula region of Victoria, British Columbia. The district encompasses the municipal District of Central Saanich and a portion of the Juan de Fuca Electoral Area known as Willis Point. It is sub-divided into 11 neighbourhoods. The district is mostly dominated by agricultural land use with scattered pockets of housing, ranging from hobby farms to townhouses. The two core commercial areas in Brentwood Bay and Saanichton provide community services, which are supported by the Keating X Road industrial/commercial area.

    The Central Saanich website highlights various events and programs for the community, including Earth Day at Oak Haven Par and the regular Council meetings.
